About Belly Heat
Not traditional belly dance. Not a typical fitness class.
Belly Heat fuses belly dance-inspired movement with tropical and Afro-Caribbean rhythms, built outdoors, at sunrise, by a woman who started dancing at 44 and never stopped.
“My problems didn’t follow me into that room. It felt less like exercise and more like therapy.”
Hi, I’m Uyanga, founder of Belly Heat. I started dancing at 44.
My body did something soft and strong at the same time, and for the first time in a long time, my head went quiet. My problems didn’t follow me into that room. It felt less like exercise and more like therapy.
I’ve been dancing ever since, four years later, in better shape than in my 20s both physically and mentally.
That’s what I want to give you. Belly dance’s movement, blended with the pull of Afrobeats and Caribbean rhythms, set to music that’s already fused itself.
You don’t need a dance background, a reason, or anything to prove. Some weeks this is the only hour where nobody’s watching how you look, and that alone does something for your confidence that no mirror ever will. Show up, move, and see for yourself.
Classes are live now at George English Park - mornings, evenings, and select weekends. New locations may be added as Belly Heat grows, but you don’t have to wait to join.
