What to Expect at Your First Belly Heat Class

You’ve been eyeing the sunrise or sunset class for weeks. Maybe you clicked “Book Your Class” and then closed the tab. Maybe a friend sent you the Instagram and said “we should do this” and neither of you has actually done it yet.

Here’s the thing nobody tells you before your first class: the hardest part is showing up. Everything after that is just movement, music, and nature.

You Don’t Need to Know How to Dance

This is the one that stops people. Let’s clear it up first: Belly Heat is not traditional belly dance, and it’s not a performance. Nobody is watching you to see if you’re doing it “right.” There’s no mirror wall, no choreography test, no moment where you’re expected to already know what you’re doing.

Every class is built for people who’ve never danced a step in their life. If you can move your hips, even loosely, and follow a beat, you’re already qualified.

Where to Go and What to Bring

Class meets outdoors at George English Park, 1101 Bayview Drive in Fort Lauderdale (right across from Galleria Mall). Pull into the lot and look for the American flag and the pavilion, we’re right in-between.

Bring:

  • Water

  • A towel

  • Whatever you feel comfortable moving in (leggings, shorts, a tee, joggers (on a second thought, it will be too hot for joggers), all fine)

Hip scarves are optional but genuinely fun if you want the full effect. Sneakers work best on the pavement.

Weather in Florida does what it wants, so if the sky looks questionable, text RAIN to (954) 496-4472 and you’ll get an update the second class is confirmed, moved, or called off.

How A BELLY HEAT Class IS STRUCTURED

Every session follows the same simple shape, so once you’ve done it once, you’ll know exactly what’s coming:

  1. Warmup - a few minutes to loosen up and get your body ready

  2. Breakdown and drills - we practice a few core movements on repeat until they start to feel natural

  3. Dance combos - we string it all together into short routines you follow along to

  4. Cooldown & Stretch - we bring your heart rate back down and stretch it all out before we leave

By the end, you’re doing something that felt impossible forty-five minutes earlier, and you didn’t even notice the moment it clicked.

The Music Isn’t What You’re Picturing

If “belly dance fitness” made you think of traditional Middle Eastern music and movement only, expect a surprise. Belly Heat blends belly-dance inspired movement with Afro and Caribbean dance moves, set to tropical, Afro, and Caribbean beats plus remixes of songs you probably already know. It’s upbeat, it’s fun, and it doesn’t feel like a museum piece. It feels like a party you happen to be sweating through.

What People Say After Their First Class

New participants consistently describe the same thing: they came nervous about being the only one who didn’t know what they were doing, and left wondering why they waited so long. Once recent first-timer left Belly Heat’s very first Google review after a private class, describing exactly that shift from unsure to hooked.

Your First Class, Made Easy

Right now, your first class is 50% off with code WELCOME50. There’s genuinely nothing to prepare beyond water, a towel, and showing up. The rest of it, the moves, the beats, the confidence, comes from just being there.

Whether you pick a 7:30 AM sunrise session or a 7:00 PM sunset one, beginner, or not, your first class is really just your first 45-minutes of proving to yourself that you can do this.
